About Us
History
Life's uncertainties and injustice affect the survival of disadvantaged children.
Our Story
Life is full of uncertainty, inequality, and injustice, making it difficult for some people to survive, especially those who are already disadvantaged by virtue of their background, lack of education, poverty, or general family dysfunction. Some try to find solace in drugs, prostitution, or crime in general.
In Africa, numerous economically disadvantaged and vulnerable children are born into these circumstances of life.
Bethesda Child Support Foundation, founded by Mrs. Nkoyo Rapu, has taken on the mandate to change the narrative for these children through the provision of academic scholarships. We have been in existence since 2001, initially under the umbrella of the Freedom Foundation as the Bethesda Child Support Agency. However, we became incorporated in 2011 as the Bethesda Child Support Foundation.
We are focused on helping underprivileged children gain a competitive advantage in life through our scholarship scheme and building free tuition schools in poor communities. In essence, the Bethesda Child Support Foundation provides tuition-free and quality education for out-of-school children in Nigeria.
One Child and Community at a Time
We started operations in 2001 at Ikota Community in Lagos State, where hundreds of children from poor homes whose parents could not afford to send them to school were gathered and taught daily. Basic educational materials were also provided to the children.
Through the years, we have built three schools and partnered with numerous academic institutions in Lagos and Ogun State. We have beneficiaries in some of the best private secondary schools in the nation.
We also provide mentorship programs, health initiatives, and psychosocial support for our beneficiaries.
Our Vision
To create an enabling environment for disadvantaged children that empowers them to thrive, grow and develop to their full potential.
Our Mission
To mobilize community resources with the assistance of partners to help children from impoverished backgrounds secure a better future through education and in that way break the generational cycle of poverty existing in their families.
